We left Akron on Saturday morning and caravaned down to Frederick, Maryland with Tom and Brett. It was a nice five hour drive. And yes, of course, Greg did all the driving. Sunday morning, Tom and Brett drove to Norfolk to pick up Al and Keith. Greg and I traveled to Virgina Beach to visit where Greg spent some time when he was younger. After a quick drive through the area and a 20 minute wait for two burgers at a McDonald's, we continued our trek towards the Outer Banks. Arriving just after 4 pm. (And this time, I actually drove for about 2 hours.) We found the house easily and moved all our stuff into our room. The house is great, very large and right on the beach. There is a constant breeze coming on shore from the ocean that makes the temperature very pleasant.
We headed down to the beach and got our feet a little wet in the ocean. At first it was a bit cold, but shortly after became bearable.
This morning we climbed to the crow's nest at the top of the house and witnessed the sun rise on the horizon over the Atlantic Ocean. It was very pretty. Greg had noticed that it was getting lighter outside, so we rushed to the crow's nest a little early. About forty minutes later the sun began to rise. I snapped some pictures, it was really kinda cool.
We began reading some of the books we brought with us. Greg is reading Hero and I'm reading Cabin Pressure. I read Hero last month. It was a great read. We checked out some of the shopping in the area. Greg bought a new pair of sun glasses. I bought candy.
So far a very relaxing vacation. Tomorrow we're going to check out the area some more and visit the lighthouses.
